I originally met the crew from Proof Research at the Sika Show. After hearing what I was up to, they offered to send down a barrel for me to check out. It sat in the office for far too long (sorry folks) while I figured out what to do with it.
Then, after I sold the Tikka TAC A1 (right-handed) I had a decision – buy a left-handed version of the TAC (good option) or finally get my Rem700 .308 rebarreled into something 6mm (also a great option). As it turned out, there wasn’t a leftie TAC in stock, and, Greg from Custom Guns got in touch and offered to help out with the rebarrelling. The timing was perfect, so off the action went to get trued and rebarreled.
As you see in the video above – Greg did more than just put a new barrel on it – is ensure every bearing surface was in line and trued and basically sorted the ‘cheap’ standard action out into something much, much better.
This is my main comp rifle now – and while I am still getting used to it – it’s certainly already shooting way better than I can. I just need to do my part and it hits whatever I point it at!
Check out the video – and keep an eye out for more appearances of this rifle about the place!
